Appreciate the importance of estate planning in California.  Students will learn what estate planning entails, the difference between a will and a trust and the advantages /disadvantages of each, and what other documents should be part of a comprehensive estate plan, such as powers of attorney and advance health care directives.  With proper estate planning, individuals and families can control their assets, protect loved ones, avoid or minimize taxes, and ensure their estate goals are met.  Class is taught by a California estate planning attorney.  Estate Planning Part II picks up where Part I left off, and discusses how to handle specific assets in an estate plan (such as real property, securities, and even pets).  Students will learn strategies for planning with certain assets, and pitfalls to avoid in doing so.  Part II will also explain what happens when it’s time for the plan to be triggered and estate assets need to be distributed to beneficiaries, whether through probate or trust administration.  Finally, this course will provide an overview of what happens when someone fights a will or a trust.
