Learn about the fundamentals of textiles and their proper use. Students will learn about textiles, yarns, weaves and finishes and their applications to Interior Design. Each student will receive a custom tote bag with their own text book with textile reference information, and a notebook and pen to take notes during the tour. After a lecture on textile fundamentals, students will enjoy lunch at a designer chic restaurant located in downtown San Diego. The Kettner Exchange Restaurant utilizes design materials in a creative and stylish fashion. The tour will then take the students to the exclusive designer showrooms in Canyon Creek on Morena Blvd. near Pacific Beach, for a special tour of the cutting edge designer fabrics available to Interior Designers.  These showrooms are only open to professional interior designers. Students must provide their own transportation and the lunch fee will be $20 maximum. A $25 materials fee is included with the enrollment fee.   We have student parking in level P2 located underground at the Cesar E Chavez Campus at 1901 Main Street. To access the underground parking, head south on Main St. and turn right into the driveway behind the campus.  We also have a parking structure located at 1902 National Ave. Permits are required for both places. Permits are free for students and are available at the campus. Parking permits are not required for Saturday classes.

Come learn the basics needed when designing a residential interior. This class is appropriate for new home owners, real estate professionals, contractors, and students who want to explore the field of Interior Design. In eight weeks, you will learn the basic steps of designing a room with the course culminating in the development of an  interior design presentation board. Learn how to  develop design concepts, architectural space planning, common interior design materials, furnishings and final presentation board techniques. Lap top computer with Microsoft office recommended but not required. Course enrollment fee includes a materials fee of  $25.00. Students will learn about   the different flooring types, and custom options with their applications to Interior Design. After a lecture on flooring fundamentals, students will enjoy a lunch in San Diego in a Designer Chic Restaurant in the U.S. Grant Historical Hotel in Downtown Gas Lamp District, which utilizes flooring in a creative and stylish fashion. Learn about the fundamentals of Hotel Design and the proper use of materials selections. Students will learn about the different Interior Materials selections and types. Each student will receive a custom tote bag with their own text book with Hotel design reference information, a notebook and pen to take notes during the tour. After a lecture on Hotel design fundamentals, students will enjoy a lunch in Historic Downtown San Diego in a Designer Chic Restaurant called Currant, in the Sofia Hotel which utilizes Materials in a creative and stylish fashion. The tour will then take the students to tour two San Diego Hotels (The San Diego Marina Marriot Marquis, and the Sofia Hotel) which use materials in a stylish and efficient way.
