Jewelry Fabrication
 
This semester long class is designed to give advanced students an in-depth study of a specialized jewelry making technique. Students will have the opportunity to focus on individual projects with an instructor’s guidance. In addition to technical skills, emphasis will be on personal development, creativity, and problem solving as it relates to the project. Beginning jewelry making, metal fabrication and soldering skills are a pre-requisite for the class. A list of materials will be provided on the first day of class.The $30 materials fee is included in the cost of the course.

It will give students the opportunity to focus on individual projects with an instructor’s guidance. Emphasis will be on basic jewelry construction skills such as sawing, filing, forming, texturing, soldering and finishing. Students will also explore personal development, creativity and problem solving as it relates to their projects. Intermediate and advanced students will work on more advanced technical skills. A list of materials will be provided on the first day of class. Metal and stone needs will be determined by the student’s design. It is recommended that students have their own hand tools and basic tool kit.Tools are not required the first class meeting. A tool list will be provided the first class meeting. The $30 materials fee is included in the cost of the course. This lab allows students currently enrolled in Jewelry Making/Fabrication classes access to the jewelry studio, tools and equipment for the purpose of working on current or unfinished projects in an instructor-supervised environment.  Students must have basic soldering and fabrication skills. Admittance requires instructor’s approval. The $20 materials fee is included in the cost of the course.

Beginning students will develop a suite of core skills that will enable design and fabrication of jewelry works. Focus will be on learning tol solder, filing, sawing, drilling, finishing, application of patinas.
