This semester long class is designed to give advanced students an in-depth study of a specialized jewelry making technique. Students will have the opportunity to focus on individual projects with an instructor’s guidance. In addition to technical skills, emphasis will be on personal development, creativity, and problem solving as it relates to the project. Beginning jewelry making, metal fabrication and soldering skills are a pre-requisite for the class. This semester long class is designed to give instruction to all levels of students in basic fabrication jewelry making techniques. It will give students the opportunity to focus on individual projects with an instructor’s guidance. Emphasis will be on basic jewelry construction skills such as sawing, filing, forming, texturing, soldering and finishing. Students will also explore personal development, creativity and problem solving as it relates to their projects. Intermediate and advanced students will work on more advanced technical skills. A list of materials will be provided on the first day of class. Metal and stone needs will be determined by the student’s design. It is recommended that students have their own hand tools and basic tool kit.Tools are not required the first class meeting. A tool list will be provided the first class meeting. The $30 materials fee is included in the cost of the course.
